“Become friends – unite the world”
16th – 22th May 1993
When the first participants arrived three days before the opening we were both happy and exited at the same time. The dream of an International Student Week in Ilmenau seemed to come true – it was really happening. Most of the participants arrived on campus during the weekend, where all members of the organization committee and a lot of the hosts had waited with suspense. Some guests were helped out on the last leg of their trip – they were picked up at night from Erfurt.
The majority of the participants reached Ilmenau on Sunday greeted by the first sounds of the ISWI-Radio, ready to find new friends, to discuss in the groups and of course to have a lot of fun.
But because such a week can not survive alone by doing topical work, there was a lot of cultural events, personal contacts and meetings.
Before the finale on Friday when the participants danced on the tables in the bc-student-club the procedures started with typical German efficiency with lots of bureaucracy.
